This weekend, I mixed up some cookie mix jars for some edible gifts last minute. If you are a long time follower, you may remember my Cowgirl Cookies post way back when. These are based off of them, but with a few wardrobe changes and a few merry labels.
This is all dry ingredients for cookies that get layered in a 1 quart jar smooth ball.
when I met these I started really nice and organized, but I tend to make things messy when I'm in the kitchen by the end I had all ingredients. Check out my instagram if you want to see the chaos behind the scenes.
During assembly, the layer flour first, then oats and red and green M & M
Then add the nuggets of chocolate and brown sugar. As you go, make sure to pack the ingredients in as tightly as possible. When you reach the layer of brown sugar, press the back of a large spoon around the edge as you turn the pot.
Then add the granulated sugar. And finally, instead of chopped pecans like Cowgirl Cookies ask, I used white chocolate chips for these. The ingredients are all the way up the pot when finished.
Look how pretty all the ingredients appear in layers in the glass jars that I find at Hobby Lobby.
Keep in mind, you can quite give pots just like that ...
... But I wanted to dress up a bit for the holidays.
Some Merry Christmas Cookie Mix label I created and you can use if you wish. Just download the pdf and print it on paper heavier weight. Use a 1 7/8 inch paper punch to cut out the shapes so you can attach them to the pot. The PDF also contains quick instructions to the recipient on how to cook them. YAY!
I love those bundles of fun fabrics I found at Hobby Lobby to wrap the covers. I also made a bunch of little white tassels to them even to fools.
Oh my gosh ... so cute.
course, I had to ensure that these witnesses were as good as I remember, so my nieces who were visiting and I cooked a test batch to enjoy while we played in the kitchen making cake pops snowmen. It was a super fun and festive day.
If you want complete instructions on how to make Cookie Mix Jars or simply to make a batch of these delicious cookies, then check out this post Cowgirl Cookies for details and the recipe.
