Cookie Molds

Cookie Molds -

IMG_4447

I ordered cookie molds awhile. Since two years, I think. And this weekend I finally used them. I did not used to print out the dough biscuits. I used to mold fondant to decorate the cookies instead.

I ordered the house cookie molds on the hill. Most of their molds are replicas of sculptures of ancient molds. They have some sculptures mold replicas as far as 10. Be careful if you visit their site. You will be fascinated by all the beautiful designs.

The molds are traditionally used to Springerle cookies (you can see examples on their website) I also wanted to do. I do not have all the ingredients, so I settled on decorating sugar cookies with molds.

I used Bake in oven baking sugar recipe for 350 after trying his cookies last year in Girl Hunter Weekend Georgia Pellegrini. The recipe is quite perfect.

It is soft and pretty to decorate with farm royal icing recipe and has two big advantages. 1 - You can use cold butter which is fine for me because I always forget to put it out. and 2 - you can cook with it just after rolling. No need to relax first. Yay

Oh and one more thing - it tastes good. Thank you Bridget!

After the cookies are baked and cooled, it was time to get to get.

I'm a little fondant out and lifted the food coloring gel.

you can mix your basis in any color you like. Then work with a small amount at a time for each cast form and leave the rest wrapped tightly in plastic wrap. Press into the mold or roll smoothly on the mold using a fondant roller.

Hold the overflow / excess, gently remove the form of fondant mold revealing a beautiful design.

Then you can use a cookie cutter to cut the design to meet your cookies. Fortunately, the core mold had a shape similar to a cookie cutter heart I had on hand.

Handy.

Just repeat until you have enough molded shapes for your cookies.

This is the heart Te Amo mold. But there's more you can select clusters.

Apply a thin layer of icing sugar cookie and place the molded fondant on top.
Press gently on the surface and along the edge to attach.

Look at all these details. Crazy!

Pretty cookies and pretty easy, too.

In addition to all the available mold designs, they also come in different forms.

I used this round to mold cupcake tops.

same method as above. Roll or press the fondant into the mold and pull gently. It helps to have a good amount extend beyond the shape you have something to remember. It will be easier to release the fondant mold. Start outside and work all around so you do not pull in one direction.

Now, this mold was also similar in size to some graduated circle cutter I had on hand. Cutters I used before to cover the cakes in fondant. The mold has a border, but the inner border is just the right size for cutting, so I just removed the excess and use the indoor section for the cupcake. Apply some frosting in the center of the cake and gently press the sides.

Voila. Pink fondant covered cakes small.

Spectacular.

When I ordered the mussels heart and rose, I also ordered this incredible roll.

But that will be for another day.

Hope you try this is very entertaining. And try different molds and themes. There is so much.

And, if you want to use one of these molds for cupcakes and cookies here, this is what I was doing.
