I hope you guys enjoy the summer so far. Whether you're at the beach, the pool, the couch or elsewhere, I hope your summer is fun, fun, fun!
And those beach ball cake pops are a great way to get in the right mindset. I made them for the blog A Target Bullseye View and based on some of their promotion Summer store. But really, I wanted to make beach balls for a while. One of the many drawings on my to-make-list and I have received many requests in the past.
All I know is that I would have done this long before now. They are so simple and cute, and also strong visual appeal. They just sing summer. And the sun. And they make me smile. And they make me want to be at the pool. Especially since I'm not yet dipped my toe in the water this year. Maybe soon.
Here are some pictures and there is a link to the complete instructions below.
I ride my balls in hand 99.5% of the time I make cake pops, but for that, I thought I use a cookie scoop to make extra sure they are of similar size.
This is a good consistency of cake frosting. The mixture should be moist but should not feel wet. Once they are cut, you can easily roll them into smooth ball.
Speaking of consistency, if you have not used Merckens candy coating, I really recommend it. You can see how the fluid coating is over. He pours a spoon instead of plopping. : ) I know. Beautiful visual, but this is what you want. Not too thick, perfect for dipping.
When the pops are dry, you can etch in the coating of a guide on your cake balls.
and then all you need to turn them into show stoppers is some color for decoration and maybe a little brown sugar for a sweet presentation.
Sanding sugar in bright bold colors. I want to dive.
I took these beach balls based on the same technique I used for Easter egg cake pops in my book. Same principle, just a different design. You use corn syrup to get watered to stay exactly where you want

and if you want more fun designs cake pop, you can find the book and kit at the target and in their stores, too. I always get excited when I see there ... I'm like a little child.
Now for the really important question.
What are you doing fun this summer? I would like to know what you guys are looking forward to planning your summer because I have not done anything fun. I am longing for the pool and rest and adventure and rest and rest. What to do and where to go?
